Tim Haines
Owner and Surveyor

Xtreme Marine Surveying is a boat surveying company founded by a local Floridian with a passion for the boating lifestyle with history as a mate, boat detailer, marine mechanic, and field engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering. Combining numerous industrial marine engineering related experiences from the engine room to the helm, over 20 years of being the go-to boat handyman and surveyor for associates, and experience as an apprentice under a certified marine surveyor, Xtreme Marine Surveying is sure to provide the experience and skills needed for a custom and professional assessment of all vessels. My goal is to find and report problems before they cost the client money or compromise the safety of the crew or vessel.

I am a member of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS), one of the largest international marine surveyor organizations, which requires members to complete yearly continuing education credits in the field of Marine Surveying to maintain certifications. I adhere to an ethical code whereby it is a surveyor’s duty to be professionally competent, to honestly present all relevant facts to the client, and to avoid conflicts of interest. My specialization is in power and sailing yachts and small crafts (Y-SC). I am also a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME), American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and BoatUS. Serving the entire state of Florida, I will travel to any vessel for the convenience of my clientele.

While experience and training are the pivotal points of a high-quality marine survey, the latest equipment and diagnostic tools like thermal imaging cameras and top-rated software are used to ensure that all surveys are thorough and accurate. In-depth survey reports that reflect the sincerity and transparency of the inspection are provided to all clients. This documentation helps paint a clear picture of the vessel and any potential issues to assist the client in determining the best path forward.
